Three Firefighters Injured in WI Fire, Explosion

Firefighters needed to shuttle water to the scene as flames engulfed Summerset Marine Company in Eagle Thursday.

Six people were injured, including three firefighters, after an explosion and fire spread through a marine manufacturing company in Eagle Thursday.

Fire crews were called after for a reported explosion at Summerset Marine Construction just before 8 a.m. and found heavy fire in the large metal-frame building.

One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to TMJ4.com. A firefighter suffering from exhaustion was hospitalized, while two more firefighters and two citizens were treated at the scene.

Western Lakes Fire Assistant Chief Matt Haerter said the area lacked water, meaning tankers were needed to establish a water supply.

The Southeast Wisconsin Incident Management Team was activated as emergency crews remained on scene for hours.
